“It is time to put an end to the policies that put the profits of the funds above the people” states, among other things, SYRIZA
SYRIZA-PS criticizes the government on the issue of bad loans.
In his announcement he states: “The communication announcement by Mr. Patelis from the prime minister’s office is defiantly hypocritical about the open possibility of new legislative intervention at a time when borrowers, guarantors and small and medium-sized businesses have been left literally unprotected, they have canceled the protection of the first residence and they managed to leave unregulated banks, funds and servicers again even after the integration of the European Directive 2167”.
It characterizes “late the criticism of the 11 MPs of the New Democracy who (…finally!) are talking about the complete failure of the out-of-court settlement and the legislative arrangements they themselves have voted for during the government term of the New Democracy”.
He then argues: “And in the meantime, the borrowers are dizzy from Mitsotaki’s policies. On the one hand the servicers are free to remind them every day of the securitization of their debts and the seizure of their residence and on the other hand the Ministers advertise as a solution the issuance of loans to young and old, the new generation of debtors, for the purchase (again? ) of a 1st residence.
SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance has tabled specific proposals on private debt, the protection of vulnerable borrowers, the protection of the first home, changes to the bankruptcy law in favor of households. These include:
– the establishment of mandatory acceptance of the arrangement by servicers and funds,
– increasing the income criteria to protect vulnerable borrowers by calculating reasonable living expenses,
– the protection of the first residence.
He announces that “in the near future, SYRIZA-PS will submit a law proposal which will contain the overall framework of our proposal so that thousands of borrowers can find relief”.
The announcement concludes: “It is time to put an end to policies that put the profits of funds above people. Only with political change and a framework that protects borrowers and the first home will the country be able to return to a path of social justice and cohesion. The solutions will not come from the Mitsotakis government, which has chosen to support the powerful and leave the citizens unprotected.”
