About her possible candidacy for the leadership of SYRIZA, what has been done and what she believes should be done, Olga Gerovasilis spoke to ANT1.

Asked about whether she will run for the leadership of SYRIZA, she clarified that, “I have chosen at this moment not to enter the process, because there is a lot at stake” and referred to what has happened in the last year, summing it up in the phrase: “we went through a time with a violent attack from the superego on the we. Assault on collective processes and divisions’.

Asked to comment on Kasselakis’ statements about his targeting, she disagreed, saying that “the people of SYRIZA showed great tolerance to Mr. Kasselakis”.

She noted, however, that “I was the first to sound the alarm about Mr. Kasselakis, at the February conference. Then I retired, for the European elections. Proof that my prefecture was the first in Greece”.

And he added: “I did not choose for myself the role of the internal party opposition. Even if they put me there.”

Giving examples of the divisive climate he describes in SYRIZA, he argued that, “things were not heard from both sides, but from one. The side of the executives who were and still are SYRIZA, did not enter into such a dialogue. It was one-sided” and he spoke of an “organized army of character assassination”, which, as he said, “still exists”.

Regarding the next step, the SYRIZA member of parliament said that, “right now the most important thing is how we will get to the elections. The terms must be reversed within SYRIZA as well.”

And he said about Kasselakis that, “he was supported, time was given, opportunities were given, relationships were made”, stressing that, “we should not fall into the trap of all those who support Kasselakis, who is often fanatical and has elements of the extreme right”.

“We must do everything so that Kasselakis does not win”she emphasized in every tone and when asked if she will remain in the party if she is eventually elected, she reversed the question saying: “if Mr. Kasselakis loses, will he stay? Will those who support him stay?’ and said of herself that these are “difficult answers”.

He invited the former president of SYRIZA to respond to “he brought division” and when asked if Sokratis Famellos will be a candidate and if he will support him, he replied that, “there may be more than one candidate”, to clarify that, ” my assessment is that he should be a candidate, but without ruling out another.”

He also made it clear that, while “all possibilities are open, one has been closed: that the Central Committee, whose term has not expired, raised the issue of leadership” and called on the deputies who accuse officials of division, to “take the responsibility the deputies who blamed the 11 who left”.

When asked about possible cooperation with the New Left, he said that, “this discussion has not even started and it is a very rough discussion” and putting the outline of an ideal SYRIZA he said that, “we want SYRIZA to be a party that can provide a solution ».

Finally, answering a question about Alexis Tsipras, he answered that, on the one hand, “he has chosen to abstain” and on the other hand, “he does not patronize the proceedings”.

And she ended by formulating her personal opinion about a large center-left faction in the country, with the participation of PASOK, which could be headed by Tsipras. But she made it clear that this is her position and not that of Alexis Tsipras.
