The Prime Minister thanked the Crown Prince for supporting Greece’s candidacy for the position of non-permanent member of the Security Council
The prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met, on the sidelines of the work of its 79th General Assembly UN in New York, with the Crown Prince of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah.
During the meeting, the strengthening of bilateral relations was discussed, while the Prime Minister thanked the Crown Prince for Kuwait’s support for Greece’s candidacy for the position of non-permanent member of the UN Security Council during the two years 2025-2026.
They also exchanged views on developments in the Middle East and the Red Sea. Kyriakos Mitsotakis reiterated Greece’s position in favor of free navigation in the region.
The prime minister also had a meeting with representatives of American Jewish organizations.
During the meeting, international and regional developments were discussed, with an emphasis on the war in Ukraine and the latest developments in the Middle East.
The prime minister reiterated Greece’s support for Israel’s right to self-defense, as well as the need to immediately reach a ceasefire agreement for the release of hostages and the provision of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
