The awarding of the former prime minister with the “Nikos Nikiforidis” award takes place on the occasion of the Prespa Agreement
Alexis Tsipras will be awarded the “Nikos Nikiforidis” Peace Prize, this Tuesday, at 7:00 p.m., at the “Miltiadis Evert” Amphitheater of Technopolis, Municipality of Athens.
The former prime minister’s award is given on the occasion of the Prespa Agreement.
According to the relevant press release, the award “Nikos Nikiforidis” will also be given to two representatives of the bi-communal coexistence movement in a united Cyprus.
To George Liassi, president of the Union of Cypriot Refugees of Greece, and to Neshe Yashin, Turkish Cypriot poet, professor at the University of Cyprus.
The establishment of the award is an initiative of the PADOP (Observatory of International Organizations & Globalization) and has been awarded every year since 2018 in the context of the internationalization of the memory of the peace fighter Nikos Nikiforidis, who at the age of 22 led the Peace Front Neo (1950), which undertook the circulation in Greece of the Stockholm Appeal for the abolition of all nuclear weapons. Activity that led to the arrest, death sentence and execution of Nikos Nikiforidis, March 5, 1951, in Thessaloniki.
