“An end to the criminal favorable treatment of those who return stolen goods”, added the prime minister during the introductory statement to the cabinet
His meeting is over cabinet which started with the prime minister’s suggestion Kyriakou Mitsotakiswho referred to the topics to be discussed and which concern the Long-Term Plan for the economy of the period 2025-2028, dealing with Demographics and violence among minors.
“There should be a de-escalation in Middle East. Greece talks with all sides and is a factor of stability in the region. We will always fight for peace in the region which is a condition of stability. We call on the parties to de-escalate to avoid the worst-case scenario of full-scale war. We have drawn up an evacuation plan for the Greeks who are in Lebanon”, Kyriakos Mitsotakis said at the beginning of his introductory statement.
The prime minister then addressed the issues economy. saying that:
“In the medium term, there is a very encouraging path for public finances that I also captured in the contacts with investors in New York. It includes debt reduction that creates fiscal space for spending in favor of the citizen.”
“Greece does not belong to those countries that are in an excessive deficit regime and this is the greatest proof of the country and the citizens to leave behind us the times of fiscal diversions,” said Kyriakos Mitsotakis.
Tougher penalties for parents for neglecting minors, new Safe Youth app
Regarding the burning issue of violence against minors, Mr. Mitsotakis pointed out:
“I believe that overall in the interventions in the Criminal Code, we have shown good reflexes and the targeted changes towards the stricter criminal treatment of gun possession by young people and the pre-incarceration of those who fall into the same criminal act. There is an end to the favorable criminal treatment of those who return stolen goods, it will only be mitigating. The state cannot replace the family as the basic nucleus of child rearing. But we have the ability to make the penalties for neglect of minors more severe. In the future, we will be very concerned about the issues with social networking platforms and how bullying takes on a digital dimension.”
“We are facing a global crisis and I take it for granted that there will be a need for regulatory intervention to tackle this problem at its root. Until that happens we have an obligation to protect our children. The big new initiative is the idea of a new Safe Youth app so a child can tell the police, outside of school, if they feel they are in danger. We will be ready in a short time to present the new initiative”, said the Prime Minister specifically.
“Over 20,000 agricultural producers benefit from the regulation of red loans”
“Tolls on Attiki Odos are reduced to 2.5 euros. Vehicles belonging to disabled people will also be exempted. The new concessionaire undertakes full operation and maintenance even in emergency situations. I also repeat that as a result of the renegotiation for the funding on the Aegean highway, the cost of tolls on the Maliakos-Klidi section in Athens-Thessaloniki is reduced by 3 euros. A reduction that will take effect until the end of 2025”, he noted for the tolls in Attiki Odos.
To set the red agricultural loanssaid that “it concerns over 20,000 producers and 750 cooperatives and we believe that it will give a breather from a problem that unfortunately comes to us from the times of crisis”.
