“I can guarantee that I will contribute to unity and collegiality in the party. My call is addressed to all those who consider SYRIZA-PS their home. It also appeals to creative, democrat, progressive citizens,” said his presidential candidate SYRIZA Sokratis Famellos, speaking to radio station “To Kokkino 105.5”. He said he is asking for “the responsibility to rebuild our house and restore both the space of ideas and the space of politics.”

“We want,” he said, “a SYRIZA open to societyopen but at the same time composed that will have action”, adding that “the party of the members is one thing and the members of the president are another”. He noted that he takes responsibility to assure, “first of all about unity and seriousness because society judges us very harshly. Why, we didn’t have unity and seriousness especially in the last months”. He stated that the reason he nominated is “because the situation in the party is very bad, because SYRIZA is not what it should be: serious, reliable, efficient”. He added that “the position of the president is not power, it is not an office, it is a responsibility, because he has the responsibility to first defend the democratic functioning of the party”. He commented that he read “an incredible post on social media that this is ‘Hundist'”, to emphasize that “these expressions do not correspond to SYRIZA”.

“I was, I am and I will be SYRIZA-PS”emphasized Mr. Famellos, adding that “we must rebuild SYRIZA and support the space of ideas, struggles and ethos of the Left”.

Mr. Famellos also spoke about the need for the two media, “Avgi” and “Kokkino” to exist and to support them with respect for labor rights. “Let’s do everything we can to have the means. This means, therefore, that both the party and the members of the party must do everything they can for these means to exist. This may mean that we have a little better provision in financial outings, in the registrations – which do not exist – of subscribers and supporters. This is the organizational work that was missing from SYRIZA”, he said among other things.
