“I deeply respect George Papandreou and Evangelos Venizelos – The question is not who will beat Mitsotakis, but the system of government”
On Sunday, October 6, his members and friends will vote PASOK for the new leadership, with the mayor of Athens and candidate for the presidency of the party, Harry Doukasto be invited to and to “Mismatched» on Friday morning.
Initially, speaking about the extent to which PASOK has become a crutch of the ND, Mr. Doukas emphasized that he fully respects George Papandreou who, as prime minister, “made decisions at very critical moments with major changes, keeping the country upright, just as I also respect president Vangelis Venizelos, who put a lot of effort into the country”.
“But I firmly believe that it is the ND government that is driving the country to the wall again. And since the elections are not a “Kinder Surprise”, as far as I am concerned I say clearly that I rule out any cooperation with the ND. We will not become a crutch of the ND, because it leads the country to another bankruptcy. I also expect my co-candidates to say clearly whether they rule it out or not”, he added.
“Citizens who want to come as soldiers and not as generals are welcome”
As to whether PASOK will cooperate with SYRIZA in the event of his own election, Mr. Doukas said that “those who betrayed us for the chair and hurt us in the past, have no place among us and will not be on our ballots . But all progressives and democrats, no matter what they voted for in the previous elections, who believe in Democracy, Justice and Transparency, are welcome to come. But as soldiers and not as generals to wash away sins”.
Then, when asked if he would remain and be a PASOK MP candidate in the next national elections, in case he loses the leadership battle, he replied that he remains a soldier of the faction on the front line, while regarding Kyriakos Mitsotakis he noted:
“The crucial thing is not who will win Kyriakos Mitsotakis, replacing him with another administrator of power, but the question is how you will change the country’s governance system, so that we can shake off entrenched interests that keep us down. Therefore, the problem is one of direction and not one of face. After all, Mitsotakis is losing in society, that’s where we have to win.”
“Did I betray Androulakis because I won in Athens?”
At the same time, when he was asked if he feels that he betrayed the trust of Nikos Androulakis who is coming against him, he wondered why he betrayed him. “He told me at the last minute to get off and I said ‘let’s go hard’ and we won Athens? Others hid during that period and even wrote “Haris does not unite”.
At the same time, he insisted that the conflicts should be political and not toxic and divisive, assuring that if he wins the leadership of PASOK, he will invite all the fellow candidates the next day to co-decide the direct actions and interventions against the government policy.
Finally, regarding the attendance of people on Sunday, he estimated that any number over 270,000 would be a great success, pointing out that 13% is a “phobic PASOK butter for Mitsotakis”.
