Georgiadis in SKAI: The lignite units are working at full capacity

by

The Minister of Development, Adonis Georgiadis, spoke about the biggest energy crisis in history, speaking on SKAI TV and the show “Simera” about the increases in the prices of gas and oil, in the shadow of the war in Ukraine.

Mr. Georgiadis referred to the provision for the profit margin on fuel, noting, however, that although it operates, the government does not expect a change in prices, as raw materials increase.

He added that this situation is not being addressed by a single state and that today the Commission will announce an additional package of measures.

The lignite units work full time

The Minister of Development characterized the allegations that the price of energy increased in our country because the lignite plants have been closed, as huge populism. He explained that except for one unit in Kardia Amynteou that closed in 2018, all the other lignite units are working at full capacity.

Mr. Georgiadis stressed that the Mitsotaki decision for de-lignification concerns their closure in 2023 and that something that is to be done then, can not affect the price in March 2022.

Imagine we were in an inflationary drachma.

The Minister of Development stressed that the government keeps its composure and trusts the EU and called on the citizens to think what would have happened if Greece had been outside the eurozone and had to face the energy crisis in conditions of inflationary drachma.

“We will make our cross that we have stayed in the eurozone and the euro and we did not do the hat to those who danced that night in the referendum in the Constitution, the fools, and they would take us all by the throat. “Imagine if we were in drachmas today and we had an inflationary drachma and we had to buy natural gas and oil”, said Mr. Georgiadis and added:

“We will make our cross that the late ethnarch, Konstantinos Karamanlis put us in the European economic community. That we entered the euro during Simitis. That Samaras kept us in the euro when everyone said we would go out. “I will add that we will also make our cross, which Tsipras made the asshole – because I want to be fair, because if we were in the drachma today…”, said the Minister of Development.

What will happen to the accuracy check

Mr. Georgiadis also referred to the check of accuracy, saying that the government can not be indifferent to those who are most in need and will help them from the backwardness of the state. He explained that it will concern people with low income while the terms and amount are specified by the Ministry of Finance and is expected in the near future.
