Mr. Androulakis, during his central pre-election rally, called on all citizens to actively participate in Sunday’s vote and described his vision for a modern democratic, progressive party
“PASOK is back and united will defeat ND and Mr. Mitsotakis”, emphasized Nikos Androulakis to the cheers of his supporters at his central pre-election rally in the square of the Old Parliament. Speaking to dozens of party officials and members of PASOK, the current president and re-candidate for the leadership of the party spoke in unifying tones and avoided the spikes and attacks against the other co-candidates.
He called on all citizens to participate vigorously in Sunday’s vote and outlined his vision for a modern democratic, progressive faction that would continue the victories against the government.
“On October 6 and 13, the ethos, style and orientation of the next government will be judged, which will be a PASOK government,” Mr. Androulakis underlined and added: “The question is no longer with whom you will govern, but when you will govern.”
Mr. Androulakis, taking stock of the two and a half years in the leadership of the party, pointed out the political successes achieved by PASOK in the government with the motion of censure, the documented opposition for accuracy, the defense of the institutions and the major problems of the economy.
He made a more specific reference to the issues of foreign policy where, commenting on the government’s policy for calm waters with Turkey, he severely criticized it. “Is it calm waters, Mr. Mitsotakis, that Hagia Sophia became a mosque, the “blue homeland” entered Turkey’s textbooks and its provocation in Kasos? And you didn’t react?” said Nikos Androulakis. He added that “the country needs a strong, robust and patriotic foreign policy.”
Concluding his speech, Mr. Androulakis asked the executives and members of PASOK to support his candidacy. “Together we will win, together we will advance”, he emphasized to applause.
