Government sources commented that with the promoted policies, the measures and the sizes of the Greek economy, they confirm the high resilience of Greece

To overcome the embarrassment caused within the ND and the government, the attitude, due to their absence from the anniversary event in Rigillis, of the two former prime ministers of the party, Costas Karamanlis and Antonis Samaras, attempts the Maximos Palace returning to the orbit of everyday life.
After all, the term of each government, much more so the second four-year term, is judged based on the everyday life of the citizen. This has always been the big political bet that the current government has set, seeking to “win” it by the end of the current term in 2027, having implemented its program and the policies it promotes in this direction.
Now, the nightmare of fiscal crises and memoranda has been left behind, and the management of everyday life has again taken a leading role, not only to deal with crises that have arisen, such as punctuality, but also to change the Greek economy for the better, which allows purposefully and methodically to give breathing space to the citizens. A tangible example of this policy is also draft budget for 2025 submitted to the Parliament, with the Minister of Finance Kostis Hatzidakis to state that “The Budget sends a message of optimism” as it has 12 different pay rises and 12 tax cuts. “It confirms that our economy will grow much faster than the average of the European Union and that unemployment will decrease even more. The government is taking another important step towards the full fulfillment of its pre-election commitments”, added Mr. Hatzidakis.
Government sources even commented that with the promoted policies, the measures and the sizes of the Greek economy, they confirm the high resilience of Greece, despite the high uncertainties that may be caused by the recent geopolitical developments.
In addition to the economic and fiscal figures, in the same context of the continuous improvement of everyday life, the bill of the Ministry of the Interior is introduced today for a vote in the Parliament and regulates issues related to the improvement of the operation of the Municipalities and Regions of the country, the upgrading of the land border stations, setting for the first time explicit rules for their organization, operation and modernization, as well as issues that directly facilitate the daily life of citizens.
It is considered that the possibility of settling debts to the Municipalities and their legal entities with a repayment of up to 60 installments and the special care for vulnerable debtors, for whom an additional exemption from the surcharges of up to 95%, will be a significant breather for a large portion of citizens. . Also permanently established is the possibility of resorting to out-of-court settlement for debts to municipalities that exceed €10,000.
At the same time, with the aim of freeing up public space for the benefit and use of citizens, so that pedestrians can pass unhindered, with the bill in question, the fines for the arbitrary use of public spaces are tripled and the penalties are tightened. The specific provision includes stricter regulations in case the arbitrary use concerns special cases, such as blind people’s journeys with measures that can go as far as the removal of the store’s operating license.
It is also established to facilitate the implementation of projects of major importance in the Regions, with rapid procedures for the immediate completion of critical interventions, especially those related to the restoration of disasters or the servicing of supra-local needs.
