Far from behind-the-scenes ferments and opaque processes o Pavlos Geroulanos he will meet today in the Parliament, at the offices of PASOK, with Nikos Androulakis and Haris Doukas. 63,632 votes were collected by the third of the elections and any possible “turning of the eye” could judge the new president of the movement.

However, Pavlos Geroulanos has shown since Sunday evening that he does not wish to enter such an intra-party “bazaar”. In total, the four who were left out of the second round attracted more than 140,000 voters to the polls, with the margin separating Nikos Androulakis and Haris Doukas amounting to 24,798 votes.

The difference that the current president of PASOK got from the mayor of Athens is good, but everything seems to be open.

“Key” will again be participation. In two other matches in PASOK, a second round had to be held. In November 2017, the late Fofi Gennimata prevailed over Nikos Androulakis and 26.4% fewer voters attended the second ballot. The exact same picture was recorded when Nikos Androulakis prevailed against Giorgos Papandreou three years ago with participation in the second round decreasing by 24.7%. What does this mean? 1 in 4 seem to vote based on faces and prefer to abstain when their chosen one is out of the “battle”. If the picture is similar next Sunday, it is estimated that approximately 230,000 members or friends of PASOK will be at the polls out of the 302,000 who attended the first round.

Nikos Androulakis and Harry Doukas they had an audience at his first intra-party showdown. They did well in the regionals, however, they faltered in Attica, finishing third and fourth respectively. Those who argue that the current president of PASOK has a clear advantage see that although none of Pavlos Geroulano, Anna Diamantopoulou, Michalis Katrinis and Nadia Giannakopoulou support him, at the same time none of the four seem willing to “give the ring” to his opponent.

Although it is very early, the small differences of the first four were not the reason for the “knives” to come out the day after the elections. So far, it seems that the priority is to find a way of peaceful coexistence without ruling out “grims” after the second elections. The battle will be tough, as the dissolute tendencies prevailing in SYRIZA almost automatically anoint the new president of PASOK as the main opponent of Kyriakos Mitsotakis on the way to the elections. Unless in Koumoundourou they manage to organize their forces after December 1st and the election of the new leadership.

Much is expected to be judged by the debate. Whether it takes place or not and how it is done will likely show who wants or who fears a telefight. Today the representatives of the two candidate leaders will meet in order to find the right day, but also to discuss the conditions under which it will be held. It is obvious that Haris Doukas, as the second, invests a lot in the debate in order to change the climate, while Nikos Androulakis also appears positive. So far it has been known that the president of PASOK has proposed that the debate be held on public television on Wednesday, while the mayor of Athens, because the city council meets on that day, wants the debate to be held on Friday.
