“Every 2 days I inaugurate a new clinic”, underlined the Minister of Health – What did he say about the unity of the ND and how did he comment on the internal parties of PASOK
To and in “Today» with them Dimitris Oikonomou and Akis Pavlopoulos hosted on Wednesday morning the Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadiswho commented on all the latest developments around current affairs.
Initially, Mr. Georgiadis wanted to deny the rumors and newspaper headlines that he has bought a property worth 1.2 million euros in the area opposite the Hilton, clarifying that the only property he has in his possession is the one he bought in 2007 before he was elected as a Member of Parliament and is still in a loan, which he pays on a monthly basis as he owes to pay it off.
With reference to SYRIZA, the minister pointed out that what is happening in the Greek Left has exceeded all limits, which no one would believe even if they saw it in a movie. “I think it’s obvious that they don’t want Kasselakis to step down as president and will find every way to prevent him. They fear that if he steps down, he might win. Now for all that happened yesterday with Mr. Kasselakis out of court, let me tell you that formally he may be right based on the letter of the law. Pothen esches is personal data and is published following a decision of the Parliament for a specific period of time and in a specific way. In any case, this party has no future and it is a miracle that Greece is where it is today, having placed its hopes in these people, and indeed in the most critical period of 2015”.
“What the soldier did was illegal – He should be punished”
Asked afterwards about the incident where a Greek soldier participated in a KKE event expressing his position against Israel, the minister commented that such a thing is absolutely illegal under the law, as it is forbidden to participate in any event and make any political statement.
“Is it possible,” he said, “for a soldier to go out wearing the uniform and coat of arms and express political views, pretending to express the army? This is the nature of the illegal and it must be sanctioned”, adding that the SYRIZA MP, Petros Pappas, was right to disagree.
“Do laws have value? If SYRIZA wants to change the law, to bring an amendment to the Parliament that allows conscripts to participate in events with the coat of arms and in uniform, even if it gets the majority of the Parliament and it becomes the law of the state, bye bye with joy” .
“We do not interfere in the internal affairs of PASOK – No internal matter of dispute in the ND”
Then the conversation went to PASOKwith Mr. Georgiadis underlining that the ND does not interfere, nor has it ever interfered in the internal party elections of Harilaou Trikoupi, saying that “PASOK completed and is completing a normal democratic process and that is good”. At the same time, he took care to answer the objections of Nikos Androulakis, who had left “tips” for the unity of SWstating:
“Let me remind you that when George Papandreou was elected prime minister, he wanted to remove Kostas Simitis. Have you seen many ND leaders write off an ex? Well, let’s leave it at that, ND is fine, everything is going well. There is no internal question of dispute, I am telling you this as the vice-president of the party.”
“We’ve tripled the number of transplants – The rajas are down a lot”
As for her Healththe minister reported that on Monday he went with the rector of the University of Athens, Mr. Siasios, to the People’s Hospital, to start a 22-year request by establishing the University Clinic for Liver Transplants.
“I feel very proud that during my tenure a 22-year-old request was resolved, the Unit was built, transplants are now being carried out and the world can know that now in the National Health Service they can find their health in something very expensive and difficult. Especially in the field of transplants, this last three years is the best in history. In terms of transplants per population, we reached 3, when the average is 20, and now we have reached almost 11, that is, we have tripled the number of transplants. Especially when the corresponding clinic in Onassio starts, Greece will reach and surpass the European averages, which is why I also signed the relevant agreement with Cyprus”.
Furthermore, he mentioned that the rajas as a phenomenon in YOU have decreased a lot, with the picture compared to 5-10 years ago having improved. “Now we have a basic problem with the rajas in “Attikon” and “Gennimata” only. This happens, because out of the 100 who arrive at the “Attikon” emergency room, 55 are from outside Attica. So you have a hospital that was designed to average about 70,000 admissions a year and has 150,000. So it is a phenomenon that is explained, because it has enormous pressure. What do we do about it? As we speak a building site is underway from the Recovery Fund to deliver an Emergency Department five times the size by Easter and from 1,000 square meters to 5,000. Every 2 days I open a new clinic”.
Regarding Androulaki’s accusations about private spending, he replied that “since the 1980s, Greece has been from first to third in health spending, because the NHS model has led to the creation of a large private system at the same time. This is not necessarily bad and Mr. Androulakis did not discover gunpowder with what he said.”
