The prime minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis met at Megaros Maximos with its president UEFA Alexander Ceferin, the president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Patrice Motsepe, the president of the European Association of Professional Football Associations (ECA) Nasser Al-Khelaifi and the general secretary of UEFA, Theodoros Theodoridis, who are in Athens on the occasion of the 31st General ECA Assembly.

During the meeting, the measures that Greece has implemented to effectively prevent and deal with fan violence were discussed, such as the digital identification of the holder of a ticket, the systematic surveillance of zones within the stadiums with cameras and the automatic imposition of specific penalties in case of detection violations.

It was emphasized that the behavior of the fans is now on par with the big European stadiums, while at the same time the quality of the Greek leagues and the level of competition has improved substantially.

THE Alexander Seferin congratulated Greece on the progress it has achieved.

Best practices for the cultivation and development of young athletes were also discussed, as well as the possibilities of cooperation with African clubs in this field.

All participants expressed their grief and sorrow over the death of Panathinaikos and international footballer George Baldock.

The meeting was also attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Giorgos Gerapetritis and the Deputy Minister of Sports Yiannis Vroutsis.
