SYRIZA-PS will submit a request for the establishment of a pre-investigation committee into the Tempi riots next week, as announced on Friday by the party’s KO president, Nikos Pappas.

“By decision of the K.O. board, we are announcing that next Wednesday we will file a proposal for the establishment of a preliminary investigation into the embezzlement at the site of the train accident in Tempi. Some time may have passed, but the battle we are fighting is to restore the relationship between the state and the state. If Kyriakos Mitsotakis and ND mean what they say, they don’t have to open the door to the investigation,” said Mr. Pappas.

“In principle, we invite the parties of the progressive space to advocate and co-sign. We believe that there is a field of agreement here, we expect” he added.

According to information, the request for a preliminary investigation by SYRIZA will concern 3 political figures:

  • As regards Christos Triandopoulos, Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister, it is requested that he commit the offenses of dereliction of duty and disloyalty in a criminal form, as he allegedly gave an order to operational agents to take care of transport operations of the inert materials to private space, without informing the judicial authorities and recording the actions in an official document. The result was the alteration of the scene of the incident and the elimination of evidence and critical evidence.
  • As regards Christos Triandopoulos and Ioannis Tsakiris, the investigation of the criminal offenses of breach of duty and disloyalty is requested, as in the context of the completion of the illegal intervention (excavation and landfilling) at the scene of the crime, the latter issued a ministerial decision approving expenditure for the payment to contractors for the general execution of the illegal work of intervention and alteration of evidence at the scene of the crime, damaging the public by 647.6 thousand euros.
  • As far as Christos Triandopoulos and Nikolaos Papathanasis are concerned, the investigation of the criminal offenses of breach of duty and disloyalty is requested, as the latter, by his decision, amended the decision of Mr. Tsakiris, aiming to provide assistance to the former, in order to be freed from the responsibility attributed to him for tampering with evidence and illegal intervention at the scene of the crime.
