The “full stop” that entered his internal party procedures PASOK after his -re-emergence Nikos Androulakis in the presidency of the partyas a first image it seems positive for Megaros Maximos as it is essentially a familiar political opponent, whose strategy and moves the government has already faced, and more or less considers predictable.

Nevertheless, the change of affiliations and the emergence of other “protagonists” within Harilaou Trikoupi from the intra-party ballots are issues that are already being examined and gathered at Megaros Maximos in order to outline the opposition profile that they should expect from PASOK seats in the next period and when the “noise” of the results of Harilaou Trikoupi’s internal party elections subsides.

The divisive image presented by SYRIZA and its polling footprint show that the roles between the two parties SYRIZA and PASOK are changing, with Harilaou Trikoupi’s party emerging as the main opposition pole against the government, even if it does not formally hold the title of opposition officer, for now.

Under the new circumstances, the government recognizes that institutionally there must be open channels of communication, as long as the political conditions require it, not excluding at the same time a sharpening of PASOK’s opposition speech, now that Nikos Androulakis will try to emerge stronger from the internal party process that worked out in his favor.

This climate was also captured by Kyriakos Mitsotakis’ phone call to Nikos Androulakis last night, in order to congratulate him on his re-election, as in addition to the “institutional politeness” and political insolence between two political men, it is also seen as an attempt on the part of the prime minister to break the ice in the relations between them , as they were formed after the telephone surveillance case. In the congratulatory phone call, according to information, the intention to have communication between the two sides was expressed, which Mr. Androulakis reportedly accepted, while the time for a meeting between the two remains open. An intention that had been formulated by Kyriakos Mitsotakis even before the relationship between the two leaders broke up, but in the end it was never achieved. “It’s never too late”, government officials commented, expressing the hope that the new phase the PASOK president is now going through might lead to the much-discussed meeting.

The same hope is expressed by government officials for the opposition tactic that will be followed from now on by Harilaou Trikoupi, which was accused many times in the past of a tactic of slipping and “identifying with SYRIZA and its strategies”. Now, what the government side expects to see is if the next day PASOK chooses a more responsible opposition stance, more constructive and not “no to everything”, reminding the same sources, the stance of Mr. Androulakis on critical bills such as that for postal voting and non-state Universities.

In any case, what is estimated is that the candidacies of Pavlos Geroulanos and Anna Diamantopoulos and the role they are expected to assume the next day, changes the balance and dynamics of Harilaou Trikoupis’s party and possibly its “rota” policy. “We are waiting to see how his political speech will be shaped and if he can express something different from what we know,” commented a government official, avoiding to formulate high expectations. An indicative picture is expected to be seen by the government during the discussion of crucial bills in the Parliament, while at the same time the imprint of the new data in PASOK will also be seen in the polls that will follow in the next period, which will show the general picture that will prevail in center-left, so as to determine the Megaros Maximos its own strategy.
