Among other things, MEP Fredis Beleris spoke about Albania and the start of EU accession negotiations in SKAI and the show Today.

“Albania’s position is in the EU.. For the first time now, October 15, clear terms were entered and from a bilateral issue that the Greek-Albanian differences and the protection of the Greek minority are EU policy”he said characteristically.

As he mentioned himself, the text clearly talks about a timetable regarding the property, when the properties will be returned and with what procedure and “another issue that had to do with the self-determination of the members of the Greek minority, there the text clearly says that within of the year 3 implementing laws should be passed that have to do with self-determination and the use of language in the citizen’s communications with the state and public services. I believe it is a serious step”.

Asked if Edi Rama will abide by them, he commented that in Albania there are many who question whether he really wants to, while regarding Turkish investments he said that “the opposition and analysts say that there are no Turkish investments but Albanian black money that goes trip to Turkey and back again. Turkey is financially in bad shape.”

Regarding whether Albania is a state of law to join Europe, Mr. Beleris stated that “Of course it isn’t. Now the question that comes in is whether we want an Albania on the brink and to control it or an Albania uncontrolled. I believe this prevailed in the end and the Greek government was right to advocate.”

The only solution for Albania is in Europe, Mr. Beleris added, noting that “there is no comparison between inside and outside Europe”.

Regarding the Meloni-Rama agreement, he said that it is a firework and will not work at all.
