Mr. Skylakakis answered in the Parliament a topical question of the MP of Ioannina of PASOK, Ioannis Tsimaris on the subject, “Opening a road in the Alpine zone of Grammos”
The Minister of Environment & Energy, Th. Skylakakis, announced that an autopsy will be carried out this week, in order to identify any violations of environmental legislation, in response to a topical question by PASOK’s Ioannina MP, Ioannis Tsimaris, on the subject of “Opening a road in Alpiki zone of Grammos, a protected area by the Natura 2000 network”.
The relevant issue is currently being investigated by the Justice Department, said Mr. Skylakakis. He even noted that “OFYPEKA (Natural Environment and Climate Change Agency) has handed over the relevant autopsies to the Justice Department and at the same time, this week, it will visit the site and level of inspectors and auditors in Northern Greece of the Ministry of the Environment, to conduct an autopsy and determine whether there are any violations of environmental legislation”. Therefore, he added, we will wait for the autopsy of the inspectors, and the judgment of the Justice before taking any further action.
To Mr. Tsimaris’s question if there was any kind of environmental permit or opinion, Mr. Skylakakis said that “it has not been submitted to the headquarters nor has it come to the forest service of any kind of such licensing process.”
Mr. Tsimaris emphasized the need to ensure all the conditions “that any work carried out in a Natura environment (must) be legal and have the necessary environmental studies”.
