“My first observation concerns the definitive and irreversible course of overall recovery of our national economy. I believe that today virtually none of the reasons that led the country to the more than ten-year crisis, which suffered and hurt Greek society, are present. An economy which now produces stable primary surpluses. An economy that can now reduce the very large public debt that we inherited at the fastest rate in Europe. An economy in which government revenue increases even though taxes and contributions decrease. An economy in which the banking industry has been cleaned up so that it can fulfill its essential role of financing the real economy. An economy where the external deficit is shrinking and all this is reflected in the recovery of the investment level but also in the confidence of foreign houses and markets, which is also reflected in the de-escalation of the country’s borrowing costs and the course of Greek bonds” stressed Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in the speech at an event of the Ministry of Development on the theme: “Productive transformation, strengthening of investments and industry, for growth and new jobs throughout Greece”, at the National Gallery.

“All this is the result of five years of systematic work, with the result that Greece is presented today in Europe as an example to be imitated. An economy that managed to achieve something that is not very easy. To be able to combine, on the one hand, fiscal discipline and the achievement of primary surpluses with a dynamic growth that far exceeds the European average. And all this in conditions of political stability, with predictable electoral cycles and with a government that has proven that it can implement its policy reliably” he added.
