“According to the Statute, “absence of a member of the Central Committee for 6 months from its meetings, actions and functions, is considered a resignation from this capacity””
The office of Stefanos Kasselakis describes the participation of Christoforos Bernardakis in the vote of impeachment against the former president of SYRIZA as “illegal”.
“Mr. Christoforos Bernardakis in a recent interview with Ertnews stated that, although he is “typically a member of the Central Committee” and has “no substantial, concrete and practical involvement with the party”, he nevertheless “rang the phone that day” (in. on September 8) and voted for the motion of censure, noting that “it was his first involvement in years”, Stefanos Kasselakis’ office points out.
“This statement raises serious questions about his participation in the Central Committee, as according to the Statute “absence of a member of the Central Committee for 6 months from its meetings, actions and functions, is considered a resignation from this capacity “”, emphasize the associates of the former president, commenting that “the confession of Mr. Vernadakis for his irregular participation in the vote on the motion of censure, comes to be added to the case of Mr. Spyrou Lambrinou, who also voted by phone in the censure, although he has been actively participating for months in the work of another party, namely the New Left”.
“The Secretary of SYRIZA, Rania Svigou, must immediately give convincing explanations”, they conclude.
