The Ministry of Tourism regarding the serious incident of poisoning at the hotel in Limnochori Amyntaio, at Florinaissued a statement notifying that the accommodation had been checked in time by the competent Regional Tourism Agency of Western Macedonia which imposed fines for untrue-inaccurate information and for illegal operation while at the same time “it had communicated these decisions to all the competent authorities, in order to ensure the compliance of the business with the legal standards”.

The Ministry of Tourism emphasizes that “all legal procedures will be followed to impose any further administrative sanctions” pointing out that its absolute priority is the safety and health of visitors

In particular, the Ministry of Tourism states:

“On 18.10.2024, 2 fines of more than 10,000 euros (2,024 +8,192) were imposed by the Regional Tourism Service (PYT) of Western Macedonia, informing all the competent control authorities.

a) fine for untrue-inaccurate information when submitting the notification of the tourist accommodation

b) fine for failure to submit notification of a shop of health interest (illegal operation of the shop)

PYT had communicated these decisions to all relevant authorities to ensure the company’s compliance with legal standards.

In the early hours of 10.27.2024 at the tourist accommodation of Limnochorio Florina, according to the investigation carried out by the Amyntaio Police Department, it was found that occupants were injured with symptoms of shortness of breath, nausea and dizziness from inhaling toxic gas inside the tourist accommodation.

On 27.10.2024 the Head of the PYT of Western Macedonia issued a decision to stop the operation of the tourist accommodation, informing all the competent control authorities.

The Ministry of Tourism underlines that all legal procedures will be followed to impose any further administrative sanctions.

It points out its absolute priority for the safety and health of visitors by continuing to carry out strict controls.”
