“Greece and Japan are celebrating this year the 125th anniversary of the beginning of their diplomatic relations,” the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs said
The historical depth of Greece-Japan relations and the commitment of the two countries to international cooperation, International Law and the International Law of the Sea, stressed the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Giorgos Kotsiras, addressing yesterday’s presentation of the report “Greece-Japan relations in from the diplomatic documents”, which is organized at the Byzantine and Christian Museum of Athens by the Diplomatic and Historical Archive Service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, within the framework of the Greece-Japan Year of Culture and Tourism.
As Mr. Kotsiras pointed out, Greece and Japan are celebrating this year the 125th anniversary of the beginning of their diplomatic relations. These are two democracies representing two great ancient civilizations, two countries linked by bonds of friendship and mutual respect and facing common challenges.
“Our countries have established a meaningful dialogue on all important issues, on the basis of respect for International Law”, said the Deputy Foreign Minister and added that, as maritime states, Greece and Japan place special emphasis on freedom of navigation and respect for International Law of the Sea. “Greece’s participation in the UN Security Council during the two years 2025-2026 will strengthen our cooperation even more”, said Mr. Kotsiras and underlined the prospects of further deepening the relations between the two countries and peoples.
