The policies that SYRIZA will have to adopt in order to produce a serious opposition project were developed from Kozani, the first stop of his two-day tour in Western Macedonia, by the party’s presidential candidate Pavlos Polakis.

In his speech to the members and friends of the party in the auditorium of the Koventareio Library of Kozani and referring to local issues related to the daily life of the citizens, he spoke of “understaffing of the Kozani hospital” and of the administration’s orders to doctors who “they are forced to go to Kastoria to cover the on-call needs of the local hospital».

He made an extensive reference to the issues related to the district heating of the municipalities of Kozani and Eordaia and added that there will be financial burdens as a result of the agreement made with the government and PPC, emphasizing that “this is a bad political choice by the Mitsotakis government and its privatized PPC».

He recalled that he disagreed with her de-lignitization announced by the government in 2019 and that he also disagreed with SYRIZA’s line on this specific issue, arguing that “Greece, as a geographically small country, cannot influence the environmental footprint of other more powerful countries, such as China and Germany, and that the latter will close its lignite units later than our country.

In order for SYRIZA to become a serious official Opposition again” he argued that it should adopt the six-point program it has already announced, which includes “the withdrawal of memorandum laws, the resocialization of sectors of the economy” such as the National Bank, PPC, the control of a refinery”.

He spoke “about the deep cuts that will have to be made in justice”, while referring to the presence of a “ja strong pillar in the pharmaceutical industry by making use of Greek scientists and researchers who today, as he pointed out, are working abroad for the benefit of other countries».

Referring to foreign policy issues, he spoke of “clear red lines with Turkey in matters related to the EEZ and the continental shelf” and emphasized that “Greece should not be involved in supplying weapons to the war in Ukraine».

Asked about the commemoration of the martyred Kandano in the presence of the president of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, he stated that “we are not covered by Mr. Steinmeier’s words of sympathy” and that “the issue of German reparations is a matter of historical justice” and that “Germany should pay what is owed to our country”.
