Gunpowder… the atmosphere in SYRIZA smells, with the tension between the “casselistas” and the “majorities” growing more and more. Evidence of the belligerent climate is the counterclaims that continue even after the start of the process for the election of delegates, with the supporters of Stefanos Kasselakis even complaining of exclusions and the majority replying that the previous president seeks the dissolution of SYRIZA and the creation of of a new party in its own right.

The video and the complaints of Kasselakis

A video in which he appeals to his members SYRIZA to vote for delegates this weekend, posted on social media o Stefanos Kasselakis.

He is seen in the video walking around his new offices and appealing to his members SYRIZA.

“As many of you as are thinking “I’m going to vote for him at the end of November at the ballot box”, invalid! If you don’t vote for delegates this weekend, they won’t let me run. The legally elected president of SYRIZA will be a disqualified president of SYRIZA. Bureaucracy and mechanisms will have won, instead of your voice” says in his video the former president of the party who refers to himself as the president of SYRIZA.

Stefanos Kasselakis’ post in detail:

I am addressing you, the members of SYRIZA.

All of you who are thinking “I’m going to vote for him at the end of November at the ballot box”, invalid!

If you don’t vote for delegates this weekend, they won’t let me run.

The legally elected president of SYRIZA will be a disqualified president of SYRIZA. Bureaucracy and machinery will have won, instead of your voice.

We have the power to vote.

The power of democracy.

How will the elections be held for the extraordinary Congress of SYRIZA PS

According to the relevant announcement:

-The elections in O.M. for the selection of delegates will be held on November 2 or 3, 2024. Delegate nominations were submitted until October 31, 2024, either in person at the last OM General Assembly or by email to the OM and his/her email Coordinator/wife.

– SYRIZA-PS members who have registered with SYRIZA-PS until Friday, October 25, 2024, are registered in the Register of Members and are included in the lists of members sent by the Organizing Office to O.M. through the Prefectural Committees. In addition, they pay the amount of 2 euros, as the only financial obligation to participate in the electoral process. Membership Card holders, the unemployed and those who belong to financially vulnerable social groups are exempt from the payment of 2 euros. It goes without saying that there is no financial obligation to run for congress.

-The elections will be held in person with the presence of the members and with the presentation of an identity certificate (ID card, Passport, Driver’s License).

-For the O.M. A special electoral regulation applies abroad

-Ballots are considered valid which have a cross on the right or left side of the candidate’s name, on one side of the ballot with a blue or black pen without obvious signs of smudges or anything else that alters the ballot.

-The Prefectural Committees have announced the locations of the polling centers where the elections will be held per O.M. and election day.

– The election of delegates is completed on the same day and lasts from 10 am to 6 pm. In cases where there is a need for an extension of the electoral process, the electoral committee informs the Central Organizing Committee of the Conference and if approved, a corresponding extension is given and in any case no longer than one hour. The equal representation of the sexes, 50-50%, applies to the selection of delegates.
