OR Zoe Konstantopoulou attended today the Memorial Service for the 80th anniversary of the execution of Lela Karagianni, which was organized by the municipality of Athens at the bust of the heroine on Tositsa and Bouboulinas streets.

“Today we honor a national heroine, a woman who organized in the Resistance from the first days of the Occupation of Athens, a woman who organized her family with her children first in the Resistance, formed the Resistance Organization “Boubulina” and acted with unquenchable love for the country and freedom, with an unshakable attitude of Resistance”, said the president of Freedom of Navigation, Zoe Konstantopoulou.

“Lela Karagianni came to symbolize today the women of the Resistance, the Resistance of our people to the Nazi yoke, to the boot of the Occupation, to symbolize the inspiration for all of us who inherit this legacy to resist, to fight, not to succumb, to let’s not be shaken, let’s not let any authority take away our rights and freedoms” noted Ms. Konstantopoulou and added that as the former President of Inter-Party Committee on Claiming German Debtsthere is no justification if there is no institutional claim for the payment of German debts.

“It was the duty of the Greek government to ask Steinmeier to pay the debts, it is the duty of the Minister of Justice to sign for the execution of the court decision on Distomo,” said Zoe Konstantopoulou and indicated that she was very hurt that the prime minister told the Mr. Steinmeier “thank you for your gesture.”
