The government recognizes the role of the insurance market, the Minister of Health underlined Adonis Georgiadisspeaking on a panel in the context of the 6th National Conference of Insurance Intermediaries elected to the Chambers while announcing that he is in discussion with the Association of Insurance Companies of Greece for the design of special health insurance products that will be linked to public hospitals.

As he said, incentives are being planned for greater cooperation between the National Insurance Institute and the insurance market and this will be done through new products.

The minister noted that a plan is already being developed by the Ministry of Health and the reform of the DRGs (Diagnosis Related Groups) system will bring new data and will also affect private insurance.

These are mentioned in today’s post on the website of the Professional Chamber of Athens regarding the conference that took place on Saturday, November 2 and had as its central topic of discussion: “Economics of Health and Private Insurance. The Next Day”.

According to the relevant post of the chamber, from the participants in the panel (V. Apostolopoulos managing director of the Athens Medical Group, G. Kantoros, managing director of Interamerican, Ath. Vozikis professor at the Department of Economics of the University of Piraeus and I. Hatzitheodosiou president of EEA ) pointed out that the dialogue on the dynamic relationship between the health economy and the insurance market has already begun.

It is noted that those interested can watch the video with the dialogue panel on Health at the following email address: https://youtu.be/QN5ED1VP0ww

The president of the EEA, Yiannis Hatzitheodosiou, referred to the current impasse that has been created with the increases in charges in hospitals, which leads, on the one hand, to an increase in the price of health contracts and, on the other hand, to cancellations of contracts. The president asked for a “price list” and to change the framework that currently makes investments in Health difficult.

Also, Mr. Hatjitheodosiou, speaking about the future, pointed out that conditions constantly create new issues that need to be resolved for which insurance mediation has a reason and should claim it.

The delegates were also placed on various other issues of the sector (claims, abolition of taxes on insurance premiums, strengthening of networking, training, entry of young people into the profession, etc.) and, from the EAEE side, the general director Elina Papaspyropoulou conveyed the association’s interest in insurance mediation as well as its actions for the development of private insurance.

It is recalled that this year’s conference was organized by the Professional Chamber of Piraeus with co-organizers, as every year, the Professional Chamber of Athens and the Professional Chamber of Thessaloniki. The initiative, which is an annual event for the sector, was initiated by Athens and the EEA and is held annually in a cycle at the headquarters of the other two chambers.
