The planning to convene an enlarged meeting is progressing and has received consent from all parties, informed the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Nicos Christodoulidis, the UN Secretary General, Antonio Guterres, during the brief discussion they had on the sidelines of the 29th United Nations conference on climate change COP29, in Baku, according to information from the Cyprus News Agency (CYPE).
Government sources told KYPE that during their brief meeting, Guterres informed that planning to convene an expanded meeting is progressing in line with what was discussed as a result of the October 15 informal dinner and that he has received agreement from all parties.
He also noted that the UN Assistant Secretary-General, Rosemary Di Carlo, will visit for coordination and preparatory work in the next period, as Guterres “is interested in seeing a result in this meeting”, according to the same sources.
As part of the conference in Baku, President Christodoulidis met with Turkey’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan and they discussed again in continuation of what they discussed last week in Budapest, the same sources told KYPE.
