The Minister of Labor, Kostis Hatzidakis, spoke on SKAI TV and the show “Atairiastoi” about the introduction of income criteria for the benefits of OAED through the bill for the reform of the organization.
Mr. Hatzidakis stressed that the unemployment benefit will not be affected, but the goal is to help the truly unemployed find work and deal with definitive fraud.
He gave as an example two specific examples which were found after crossing with the data of AADE.
- A 49-year-old woman with 13 years of unemployment at OAED, a resident of the municipality of Dionysos, had a family income in 2020 of 180,000 euros.
- A 48-year-old woman, married with 11 years of unemployment, resident of Kifissia, had a family income in 2020, 300,000 euros.
“Well, I did not come in here to cover up fraudsters. Whoever covers them, covers them. If the opposition wants to baptize all of them long-term unemployed and tell stories of social pain, let them do it. I will give my attention to the real unemployed and that is why we give them more incentives to find a job. But the fraudsters and Kyriakos Mitsotakis and I will not cover them. “Finally”, stressed the Minister of Labor.
According to Mr. Hatzidakis, 50,000 people are registered in the registers of OAED for over 10 years, while 40,000 are registered in the registers of OAED while they have an annual income of over 20,000 euros.
He explained that those registered in the OAED registers, have various benefits, such as privileged access to public appointments, free transport, special treatment in health matters, free access to social tourism every year.
Mr. Hatzidakis said that the income limit is set at the highest, ie that of the heating allowance.
“We set the same limit to have these benefits from OAED, – from the Public Employment Service, as it will be called from now on”, said the Minister of Labor.
