The President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, …marked the 41st anniversary of the so-called Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) with a provocative message about “the struggle of Turkish Cypriots and the importance of TRNC independence”

“Today represents the most precious manifestation of the epic struggle of the Turkish Cypriot people,” Erdogan said in his message.

According to kibrispostasi, Erdogan underlined that the solution of the Cyprus problem can only be achieved by recognizing the sovereign equality and the international status of the Turkish Cypriot people.

He reiterated his appeal to the international community to recognize the TRNC, an issue he also raised during the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

“Motherland Turkey will always stand by the Turkish Cypriots”

Referring to the upcoming 50th anniversary of the Peacekeeping Operation in Cyprus, Erdogan noted that the operation ensured the existence of the Turkish Cypriot community and brought peace to the island. He stressed that Turkey will continue to defend the rights and interests of the Turkish Cypriot people.

“The steady progress of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus in the future is a source of great pride for us,” Erdogan said.

Concluding his message, Erdogan offered his congratulations on the Republic Day of the TRNC, stating: “I wholeheartedly share the pride and joy of the Turkish Cypriot people, who are an integral part of the great Turkish nation.”
