“Capital controls and the referendum are a wound in the history of SYRIZA – I have over 90 proposals for the name of the new party,” he added
It is around 80-90, according to him Stefanos Kasselakis the proposals submitted for the name of the new party he intends to establish.
“What’s more interesting is that they have completed the three characteristics they want in the new movement and the first one by a wide margin across all ages, professions and across the territory is ‘participatory'” he told MEGA on Wednesday morning adding that approx. 15 of them will enter the three-day voting that he has already announced.
Asked, in fact, if he will attend today’s debate of the four SYRIZA presidential candidates, he replied that he will not attend “because I have scheduled meetings”.
“While they thought that I would not have a second chance in the country, what they have achieved is that they probably don’t have a second chance and we are on the rise at the moment,” he said of SYRIZA.
Especially, for Sunday’s elections, he noted that “those who go to vote this weekend agree with an anti-democratic exclusion, with anti-democratic practices. It is their right. I will fight for them to always have the right to participate in whatever they choose.”
According to him, the financing of the new party will be done by its members and there will be transparency.
“I would not go to a referendum in 2015 if I were prime minister”
Stefanos Kasselakis was also asked about the actions of the Tsipras government and said that “if I were in the position of Alexis Tsipras, he would not go to a referendum. Capital controls and the referendum are a wound in the history of SYRIZA. A referendum means that the citizens, the people, are voting, so it must be respected.”
He also asked “to put an end to what happened at the SYRIZA conference, but it was a lack of Democracy. What I must guarantee in this new beginning is that there will be democratic participation.”
