The Prime Minister is in Naxos today Thursday for the signing of the contract for the establishment of the Island Decarbonization Fund
“Happy Birthday to Naxos which celebrates today and it is a great joy and a happy moment that we are on this very beautiful island, in front of the unique landmark of Naxos, to announce the signing of an important financial instrument for our islands”, said the Kyriakos Mitsotakis at the signing ceremony of the contract for the establishment of the Island Decarbonization Fund.
The prime minister said that insularity requires special care from the state and that the government has proven that it is close to the islanders.
“We are changing and making the lives of islanders better. The Fund we present will make it easier for our islands to make the green transition a reality. The resources will help to connect the islands to the electricity grid of mainland Greece,” he continued.
Mr. Mitsotakis said that this is of great importance in the country’s overall national strategy to turn solar and wind into a national advantage.
“I watch with concern as rhetoric develops from extreme parties against renewable energy sources. It’s completely flawed logic. RES will allow the country to gain energy autonomy and will contribute to the reduction of energy costs”, underlined the Prime Minister.
“We want to use this tool so that even entrepreneurs with small photovoltaic systems can cover production needs”, he added, among other things.
Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasized that “all this rhetoric against renewable energy sources is dangerous and unpatriotic because it is unpatriotic to import natural gas and oil when we can take advantage of the domestic sources of energy that God generously gave us.”
