“Attica needs infrastructure… Twenty years after the Olympic Games, not a single square meter of new road has been added,” Michalis Chrysochoidis told SKAI 100.3 when asked about the traffic problems in Kifissos during peak hours.
The roads in Lekanopedio were for 1.5 million. cars, and these have risen to 5.5 million, pointed out the Minister of Citizen Protection.
He said that in Attica this year, 118,220 violations have been confirmed, up from 47,900 last year, and the money from the fines goes to the municipalities to improve the roads.
He added that within 10 months, 200 new constables were added in Attica, while he assured that an even greater effort will be made to improve the situation.
Mr. Chrysochoidis said there will be a tender for 1,000 new traffic and crime cameras in addition to the district’s 388 red light violation cameras.
Responding to a related question, the minister clarified that no signs will be returned at Christmas, just as it was not done at Easter.
