A comment on the next day in SYRIZA – after the election of Sokratis Famellos to the presidency – and the announcement that she is not leaving the party was made by the deputy of Piraeus II, Nina Kasimati, even quoting the lines “They say that in the country where you were shipwrecked, witches reign – They sink to the bottom and bring you up to the foam.”

Her announcement in detail:

“A comment of faith in the struggling hope of Greek society, with which we once made history by forming the great SYRIZA – when the party was a means for the fulfillment of collective ideals and not an end in itself that sanctifies the means.

As a founding member and Member of Parliament of the victorious SYRIZA of noble expectations, I’m not giving up. I have long disagreed with the SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance course of multi-layered defeats, and I am clearly not alone in this view, as the numbers prove. I will continue together with thousands of comrades and fellow citizens the intellectual and political struggle of the victory of the ideas of the Democratic Party, as I have always done.

In the fresh air of democratic composition and outside the logic of dogmatic self-justification that has made us smaller. For overcoming the crisis of representation of the popular and dynamic strata and the most vulnerable among us. For the restoration of the social and national rights of the Greek people and for their perspective in our country and in the world.

Whatever government, internal party or foreign obstacles we encounter, we will win.”
