With his eyes on unity, the president of SYRIZA also met with Pavlos Polakis yesterday

The “torture of the drop” in relation to the departures continues in SYRIZA and currently concerns two members of parliament. Sokratis Famellos met yesterday in his office with Yiannis Sarakiotis and the information states that no “white smoke” came out. MP Fthiotidas reportedly expressed his concerns regarding his stay with his new president, telling him that it is understood that he fits into the party and that he wants SYRIZA to become as powerful as possible. It will not be a surprise if, even in the next few hours, Yannis Sarakiotis chooses to go to the “mountains” of the Parliament. Possibly he will find himself closer to Petros Pappas, as he is said to have not yet decided to join the Democracy Movement of Stefanos Kasselakis. According to well-informed sources, yesterday’s date between Socrates Famellos and Rania Thraskia went better. Evangelos Apostolakis has also not clarified his position on what he will do with his seat
With his eyes on unity, the president of SYRIZA met yesterday with Pavlos Polakis. It is clear that the MP from Chania wishes to have his own role not only in the party and the parliamentary group, but also in the plans of SYRIZA. It is the second strong pole and that cannot be disputed. However, the atmosphere was good and it is said that common ground was found. For the roles that will be assigned overall both to the new parliamentary group presidency and at the level of sector heads, it will depend both on the positions that Nikos Pappas and Pavlos Polakis will occupy.
In Koumoundourou they are looking to find their balance and this is not easy at all. The spiral into which they have fallen is great, and the shock of falling from 17.8% of the 2023 election to single digits is great. A new poll by Interview, on behalf of politic, showed SYRIZA in the intention to vote at 4.3%, without, however, having calculated the election of Sokratis Famellos to the presidency. They are counting on a quick recovery in order to give a resounding message to the party world that will help rally faster. The decoding of the approximately 11,000 new voters of Sunday’s ballot box will also be important. That is, if it is about old executives who “repatriated” and therefore there is a wave of return that should be taken advantage of in Koumoundourou.
