“We are today in Malta, at the Conference of Foreign Ministers of the OSCE. A crucial meeting for the future of the Organization, but also a critical meeting amid extremely difficult conditions in Europe, at the heart of which we have one warwho raging“, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Giorgos Gerapetritis, upon his arrival at the 31st Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

As he pointed out: “Greece, with its responsible attitude over the last fifty years in favor of universal values, democracy, human rights, the peaceful resolution of disputes, will once again be in the foreground.

With him My Turkish counterpart we submitted a joint proposal for two of the four important positions of the Organization, in May 2024. It is a highly symbolic move, which precisely puts at the center of peace, the possibility of states with historical burdens to be able to coexist and create a driving force in the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe. The Greek candidacy was alonewhich gathered unanimity to the Permanent Council of Permanent Representatives and we await the final judgment tomorrow».

Mr. Gerapetritis continued by saying: “In this case, Greece occupies an extremely important position in the OSCEthe position of head of the Office of Democratic Institutions and Human Rights, which deals with the integrity of elections, with the consolidation of democratic institutions, with human rights, with the protection of the vulnerable and minorities, with the elimination of inequalities.”

“OR Greece is constantly expanding its diplomatic footprint. It is at the forefront of international developments, international organizations.
