The Minister of National Economy and Finance Kostis Hatzidakis is going to Brussels today, where he will participate in the Eurogroup and Ecofin meetings.

On Monday, December 9, the Eurogroup meeting will be held where the agenda includes a discussion with UK Finance Minister Rachel Reeves, as part of a series of meetings with key international partners on global economic developments.

Macroeconomic developments in the eurozone will also be discussed, based on the results of the interim evaluation of the International Monetary Fund, as well as the fiscal situation of the member states of the eurozone based on the Budget Plans they have submitted and their evaluation by the European Commission .

The Ecofin meeting on Tuesday 10 December will discuss the revision of the Energy Taxation Directive and present a progress report on the reform of EU customs legislation. The Ministers will also be informed about the implementation progress of the Recovery Fund and will approve the revised national plans of Belgium, Denmark, Slovenia and Sweden. The agenda also includes discussions on the implementation path of the revised economic governance framework that entered into force on 30 April 2024, on the economic impact of the war in Ukraine and on the Annual Report of the European Court of Auditors on the implementation of the EU Budget for the year 2023.

On the sidelines of the meetings, Mr. Hatzidakis will have meetings with European officials.
