The Ministry of the Interior states at the same time that PASOK is confused and going through an anxiety attack as it submits the amendment before the government interventions
“PASOK’s new amendment on the banks is hasty, piecemeal and gratuitous,” reports the Ministry of National Economy and Finance, saying at the same time that the party in question is in a crisis of stress.
In particular, the ministry issued the following announcement:
“It is obvious that PASOK is confused and going through an anxiety attack. Shortly before the prime minister announced the government’s additional interventions for the banks, PASOK hurries to table a second amendment to bid on the procurement issue. Where he was talking a week ago about the extraordinary taxation of the banks, he now makes a 180 degree turn and talks about the reduction of commissions which the government put on the table first.
It is clear that PASOK’s amendment is hasty, sketchy, piecemeal and priceless.
With regard specifically to interest rates on loans that PASOK proposes to be administratively determined, we remind you that this is not allowed based on ECB regulations. This kind of thing was allowed until 1987 in Greece when PASOK came and abolished it! The readjustment of loan interest rates based on general and widely accessible interest rate indicators is already regulated based on the relevant acts of the banking and credit affairs committee of the Bank of Greece.
It is clear that PASOK is daily slipping into populism and opposition a la SYRIZA. Populism is their choice, our choice or responsibility.”
