His president gave the stamp of his intentions today SYRIZA-PS, Socrates Famousspeaking at the Prefectural Committee of the party in Achaia.

“Society wants us to overthrow Mr. Mitsotakis and its policies. He doesn’t want a consensual opposition, he doesn’t want a tango for two”, said Mr. Famellos and added that with the decision of the Central Committee, SYRIZA-PS is starting a great political expedition “to become bigger, stronger, to be the pillar of the progressive counterattack. Because we know that the society in the next elections does not want to simply vote for a good opposition. He wants to vote for a good, progressive government. And what we are committed to is that SYRIZA-PS will be strong enough to submit a proposal, either allied, or to society, or to the parties. But a proposal that will bring a progressive government to Greece”.

He launched an attack on the government: “Right-wing politics is to back cartels that impoverish society. This mix also contains the budget. He talks to us about tax cuts, but if you look at the new budget, he’s raised 2.5 billion. taxes for 2025. So is the tax cut, but for the banks it has billions. These are the distinctions. We were aware of this problem and since May we have submitted a proposal for a law that interferes with the profits of PPC and the operation of PPC and the Energy Exchange. Proposal for a law that taxes the excess profits of electricity and oil and banks. But they pretended not to listen. Now that the social cost is coming, i.e. society’s reaction, now Mr. Mitsotakis. And what is he trying to do? We learn, he says, he will bring a measure which will cost about 100 million to the banks. Watch out: 4.5 billion in profit a year, 100 million in costs.”

Turning his fire against the president of PASOK, he said: “And we also have Mr. Androulaki who came – we say better late than never – to bring a proposal for taxation on banks. At first he told us 800 million, then he told us 500, then 400. Finally he told us it costs 240 million. That is, they make 4.5 billion, they will pay 240 million. Well, their ear won’t sweat.”

He clarified the terms of progressive partnerships: “For us, the door of partnerships is open, but with one clear difference. On the one hand is the policy of Mr. Mitsotakis and on the other hand is society and its interests”.

Regarding SYRIZA, he said: “We will not do politics for the chairs, nor for family rule. We will make politics for society. There are others who are on strike planning to finish SYRIZA-PS. In the SYRIZA-PS polls, everyone voted the same: they voted SYRIZA-Progressive Alliance. There are no groups, there are no minorities and majorities. We are all the same. We all voted for SYRIZA-PS and all the candidates fought the same fight for the same perspective, for SYRIZA-PS.

So, we are committed to united, organized speech and action. Democracy in the party, action in society. This scares the power system. But we will discuss and agree. And what we agree we will do. This means a serious and composed reason”.
