Stoiximan Super League: AEK needs a win to… wait in Lamia

by

With three games, the curtain opens on the 15th matchday of the Stoiximan Super League, with the game of greatest interest being the demanding exit of AEK in Lamia.

The “Union” wants the victory with which they will “catch” Olympiakos at the top, who play on Monday against Athens Kallithea in Leoforos.

Away matches await PAOK and Panathinaikos tomorrow, with the Thessalonians facing Panaitolikos in Agrinio and the “greens” traveling to Viotia.

Lamia-AEK

After eight straight home and away defeats, Lamia drew their Round 1 clash at New Philadelphia to snap that streak. In fact, in its last four defeats, it had conceded three goals from the Yellow and Black, with the three matches ending 3-0 and the other 3-1.

In total, in 15 matches for the regular duration of the championship – in both seats – there are 12 AEK wins and three draws, while the two teams also have two matches for the Playoffs of the championship, where the Yellow and Black have won two with a total score of 7- 0.

In the eight total games that have been played with Lamia at home there are two draws with 0-0 and 2-2, while AEK have won six times without conceding a goal.

Their first game for the top division was for the 2017-18 season and AEK prevailed 1-0 thanks to a goal by Lazaros Christodoulopoulos.

They have just one game between them without a goal being scored and this happened on December 21, 2019, in the second draw that Lamia has against Citrinomavrou in the eight games they have played away to AEK.

Fearless-OFI

The last four games of both teams at both venues have ended in draws, with three of them ending 1-1 and one a goalless draw. In total in the last six there is no home victory and the last one to confirm the home was on August 20, 2022 Atromitos with a 3-1 victory.

In the last ten, however, there are only two home wins, the one scored by Atromitos in 2022 and one for OFI on November 6, 2021. The dominant result in the last ten games is a draw, with six appearances and there are also two away wins , one for OFI and one for Atromitos.

Both have scored in seven of their last ten games, while on January 10, 2021 at Atromitos – OFI 0-0 was the only time that no goal was scored in a match played with the home team of Peristeri.

The two teams have a history in the Second National League since the 60s, but in the first division they met for the first time in 1976-77.

In that match, on November 14, 1976, OFI won 3-1 in Crete, while they also won in Athens 1-0. Atromitos failed to stay in the division that season and on their return, they scored their first win against the Heraklion side 1-0 on 24 May 1981.

Volos-ASTERAS AKTOR

After six consecutive matches without a win, home and away, against ASTERAS AKTOR, Volos recorded two wins last year in Tripoli for the regular season of the league and the Playouts process.

His last home win, however, against the Arcadia team is on October 2, 2021 with 2-1 and this is the only one he has against ASTERAS AKTOR in their six meetings in Magnesia.

Volos in a total of eleven matches in both seats with ASTERAS AKTOR had just one victory, that of 2021 and in last season managed to score two and even away from home.

Volos have scored in three of their six home games against Asteras Tripoli, in a 2-1 win on 2 October 2021, a 3-3 draw in 2022-23 and last year’s 2-1 loss. Van Wert was the footballer who had found the net by opening the scoring in the first two matches, while last year Alexis Truiguet scored.

Volos is yet to win at home this year (two draws – five losses), while ASTERAS AKTOR has an away record of two wins, three draws and two losses.
