“Our government has developed and unfolded a very ambitious project of regulating many outstanding issues that come from the past, in terms of road infrastructure and we will remain absolutely committed to this goal,” stressed Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis from Kalpaki, where he was present for the signing of the contract for the Ioannina-Kakavia road project.

Kyriakos Mitsotakis emphasized that step by step we will build a more interconnected, a better Greece, which will of course also ensure road safety because I personally place too much emphasis on road safety issues.

Regarding the new road axis, he said that “it is a project that the government managed, matured, tendered and we are today in the happy position of signing it”.

The prime minister underlined that the road axis Ioannina-Kakavia is a decisive project for the wider development of the region and also for the connection with Albania.

Epirus, which was once isolated, he said, today is perhaps the most interconnected region with the Egnatia Odos, with the Ionian Odos and of course with the very important project, the E65 which is nearing its completion. We estimate that the entire E65 will be delivered to the market within the first 4 months of 2026.

This means that you will be able to approach Ioannina from two different roads and certainly for Metsovo it will be much faster to come from the E65″, the Prime Minister emphasized.

“Greece invests in good relations with Albania and supports the rights of the Greek minority. Albania’s rapprochement with the European Union is a process that can secure the rights of the minority. This road becomes a bridge of friendship between the two countries,” said the Prime Minister, according to epiruspost.gr, referring to a project with a national symbol.
