Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis, before the start of the Tripartite Summit of Greece-Egypt-Cyprus, had a private meeting with the President of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

During the meeting, the excellent Greece-Egypt relations and their role for peace and stability in the wider region were discussed, especially at a time of regional challenges and turmoil.

The convening of the Greece-Egypt Supreme Cooperation Council in the next period was also discussed, the establishment of which was decided by the Joint Declaration of Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Abdel Fattah El-Sisi last March, in Cairo, for the upgrading and deepening of the strategic relationship of the two countries.

The Prime Minister and the President of Egypt also discussed the cooperation of the two countries in Migration, as Egypt’s role is pivotal in order to limit illegal trafficking routes and contain the flows reaching Crete through Libya.

Cooperation to ensure legal migration routes and the possibilities of expanding the bilateral agreement on seasonal workers were also discussed.

The two leaders also exchanged views on international and regional developments, with an emphasis on Syria.
