On Wednesday at Plenary session the recommendation of its Ethics Committee Parliament for the suspension of government funding to Spartans.

It is recalled that earlier the Ethics Committee of the Parliament recommended by a majority the definitive suspension of any kind of state funding of the party.

In particular, the Committee that, based on the Rules of Procedure of the Parliament, meets in order to formulate an opinion to the Plenary, which will take the final decision, next week with the conduct of a roll-call vote.

All the parties voted in favor of the final “end” of the funding, except for the Spartans and Niki. The meeting was also attended by the president of the party, Vassilis Stigas, who claimed that his party has been targeted by “corrupt parties”. According to information, when asked about his testimony about the “Greek Mafia”, he insisted that his party has no connection with Ilias Kasidiaris, even saying that “Kassidiaris could have called on people to vote for either the ND or the KKE”.

It is worth noting that the suspension of the funding of the Spartans has already been put into effect since the last days of 2024, after the approval of the government amendment, with the party not receiving the amount of 462,332 euros that corresponded to it.

However, the Spartans have already received 1.7 million. euros, while they will have to return approximately 80,000 euros they received for the European elections in which they did not participate.
