Mr. Katrinis, in charge of the KTE Defense of the PASOK-Movement of Change, considers the time when emergency crises are implemented to be extremely critical
“The recent emergency measures ordered by Minister of National Defenseled to the demobilization of almost half of the Generals, Admirals and Chiefs of Staff with the cheap excuse of allegedly speeding up the Force Structure in the framework of the “Agenda 2030″ and rationalizing the number of Senior Officers of the Armed Forces”, commented the Michalis Katrinis, responsible for the KTE Defense of PASOK-Movement for Change.
According to the deputy of the official opposition party, this is a move that creates concern and many question marks.
“What message is the Minister sending? What is the purpose of this rush, when the regular judgments under the law materialize in early March every year? It is not understandable such an action by the Minister, which effectively cancels his own choices of executives, just ten months ago in the previous regular crises” he says.
Mr. Katrinis considers the time when the emergency crises are implemented to be extremely critical, since, as he points out, “at this period that is ongoing in the Aegean, the large-scale Turkish exercise “Blue Homeland” with the participation of a large number of sailors and other units of the Turkish Armed Forces and an increased focus on their activities is required on our part, operational Senior Officers are being demobilized, including Fleet Leaderwhich is tasked with monitoring the movements of Turkish naval units. At this juncture the Minister has chosen to create a huge disturbance in the Greek Armed Forces”.
Subsequently, the competent PASOK-KINAL MP asks the following questions: “But what are the real reasons for this hasty move? Was democracy or the military threatened? Or did the Minister take emergency measures for other reasons? Did he prematurely remove executives who disagreed with his personal choices and especially towards the disparaging attitude of the government towards the chronic problems of executives, which has created increasing trends in the already huge wave of their flight. What will be the impact of today’s emergency crises on the total manpower of the Armed Forces?”
Mr. Katrinis concludes by underlining how “this kind of behavior, not only does not lead to the creation of healthy structures in the army and to raising the morale of the personnel, on the contrary, they sound the alarm that fragile foundations are being created for the future of the Armed Forces.
The government must show the required respect to the human resources of the Armed Forces, the power multiplier of their combat capability.”
