“After 5.5 years of service in the position of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs responsible for Economic Diplomacy and Outreach, today I am completing my term and handing over my duties” announces his resignation today, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs for Economic Diplomacy and Outreach, Costas Fragogiannis.
“This is a decision taken for personal reasons, with absolute respect for the values and principles we served during this course,” he explains, then expressing his gratitude to the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, “for the trust he showed me and for the excellent cooperation we have had all these years”. “His guidance was decisive for the success of our project and the emergence of Greece as a dynamic and extroverted country,” he emphasizes.
Mr. Fragogiannis also thanks “especially” the Minister of Foreign Affairs, George Gerapetritis, for his cooperation and support for our joint efforts. “Together we worked with the goal of promoting the national interests of our country and strengthening our international position,” he says.
He also extends warm thanks to his colleagues Deputy Ministers and G. Secretaries to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to all members of the government, his partners in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the bodies that contributed to the common project. “Everyone, with their dedication and contribution, was an integral part of this joint effort,” he points out.
Concluding Mr. Fragogiannis emphasizes: “I feel particularly honored that I had the opportunity to contribute, through my role, to the promotion of economic diplomacy, the country’s extroversion and the attraction of important investments. I am proud of the work we accomplished together and optimistic about the future of Greece. I am leaving this position, but I always remain ready to support our country in any way necessary.”
In his letter to the Prime Minister, Mr. Fragogiannis was explaining to Mr. Mitsotakis that the decision to resign was “extremely difficult” for him as the 5.5 years of his term were an extremely creative period and the opportunities he was given to work on strengthening the extroversion and international presence of the Greek economy, they are valuable experiences that will always accompany him.
