Visit to a gas station
Earlier, Mr. Tsipras visited a gas station in the area of Kalamaria and discussed the issue of price spikes and the problems that arise with the president of the Panhellenic Federation of Gas Traders (POPEK) and the Thessaloniki Thezenro of the Union, Christos Stavraki.
As soon as he arrived at the gas station, Mr. Tsipras turned his gaze to the price table and asked Mr. Kiourtsis how much the gas station earns when the price of unleaded is at 2 euros. His profit per liter is about 5 minutes, answered Mr. Kiourtsis and pointed out that the profit, in general, ranges from 3% -5%.
Immediately after, the president of SYRIZA-PS asked about the subsidy that the government gives to fuel and the answer was that it is small and for a few.
The discussion then revolved around the issue of reducing the Special Consumption Tax on fuel and the president of POPEK stressed that gasoline should not be allowed to reach 2 euros, criticized the governments over time and developed the demands of the industry he represents.
Messrs. Kiourtzis and Stavrakis stressed that the huge increase in fuel prices has led to a drop in consumption by 20 to 25%.
