In non -achievement of an absolute majority, one fifth and last vote will be held after five days, with a relative majority
Tomorrow, the fourth vote for the election of the new President of the Republic is being held in the House of Representatives, in view of the termination of current President Katerina Sakellaropoulou on March 13, 2025.
A tomorrow’s (10 am) nominal vote requires a majority of 151 MPs, a number that has already exceeded previous votes by the ND proposed, former Speaker of the House, Konstantinos Tasoulas.
In a possible failure to achieve an absolute majority in tomorrow’s fourth vote, one fifth (and last vote) will be held after five days, and will be elected President of the Republic with a relative majority.
In the first and second voting it was required for two -thirds (200), while in the third vote there was a majority of three fifths (180). In these votes, Mr Tasoulas had been voted by 160 MPs, PASOK proposed by 34 MPs, the SYRIZA-PS Lucas Katselis proposed by 40 Members, and the proposed by Mr. Niki, Mr. 14 Members. In the first vote, 297 MPs had voted on and had recorded 49 “present” and 3 absences, while in the second and third vote I had voted for all 300 MPs, and had recorded 52 “present”.
