At today’s meeting of the Municipal Council the Mayor of Athens, Harris Dukereferred to the course of the works in the Botanical. He noted the very crucial role that all stakeholders played, making a special reference to the government’s contribution. He stressed that it is a project that does not belong to a municipal authority but to Athens and to Panathinaicwhile arguing that its completion would be a great victory as a whole of local government.

The mayor of Athens referred to the actions that have taken place in the last year but also to those to follow immediately.

The actions already taken:

– Regarding the decontamination of the scene of the environment of the surrounding area, because we are talking about a landfill that existed in downtown Athens, from the end of May 2024 to the present, they have safely removed more than 100 thousand tonnes of residential waste, ie more than 200 thousand. Waste bins, which had been dug up in the stadium since 2013. We are now very close to complete decontamination. 90% has been completed.

– The expropriations were subject to an act of the Council of Ministers issued 14.10.2024 to the fast track procedure of Article 7A. It is a very difficult and twisted process that while as you will remember in the beginning – this is what we received – for 30 acres, eventually the acres of expropriation and funding are 80. It is an act that should have been completed in 2000 .

– A very important moment was on 21/8 when the demolition permit was issued the Apostolos Nikolaidis. With the actions of the Municipality of Athens and PAO PAO and not the Eleonas AE, on the 25th of the month, the revised building permit of the new Botanical Stadium, that is, 4 days later, was issued.

– The excavation has progressed right now. We are almost the largest part of the foundation level and the foundation has begun in the southeastern part.

– Also important is the signature and start of the contracts of the two major projects: Green and Infrastructure. While the time horizon is 30/4/2026 which is the time horizon at the recovery fund, this date was adjusted due to the check of the Court of Auditors. Of course, when and when there is an extension of the duration of the recovery and durability, there will be an extension.

– As far as the Amateur stadium is concerned, there is an agreement with GDP Eleonas, that is, the banks, to fully fund the construction of the amateur facilities. And the other thorn, which was precisely the pool that was also in the agreement and amended the study, in order for the pool to be located within the building line.

– Of course, we have both technical advisers, the completion of the pre -contractual audit by the Court of Auditors of the Convention of the Technical Adviser of the stadium and to find funding from the Ministry of Energy.

What follows:

– Store forced expropriations to the next Municipal Council on 26.2.2025, in order to immediately submit an application for a single unit price for the one -member Court of Appeal.

– Issue before the summer of 2025 Amateur facilities building permit.

– Start of construction of 215 acres of communal green spaces in April 2025.

– Start of New Daniel Avenue work in April 2025.

– Start of construction of the new stadium in September 2025.

– As for the Sacred Road and the bike path, and here the start is foreseen for September 2025.
