“Our first presence at the United Nations Security Council as an elected member in an extremely difficult and complex era for the whole of humanity,” Foreign Minister George Gerapetritis, after the end of his meeting with him, said ” UN Secretary -General Antonio Guterres.

“We had the opportunity to discuss yesterday, at the General Assembly and the Security Council, on Ukraine issues,” he said, stressing that Greece has kept the attitude of the Authority, which it always maintains and concerns a solution, which would be compatible with International law and will respect its territorial integrity.

He summed that for this reason the attitude of our country along with the rest of the Europeans was in this direction.

“We also had the opportunity today with the United Nations Security Council to discuss developments in the Middle East. The expectations created by the ceasefire in Gaza and Lebanon. The next steps, which should be adhered to, and in particular the faithful observance of the truce agreement with the second phase to release all the hostages held. So that we can start for the next day, which will lead to the rebuilding of Gaza, the return of people to their homes, as well as to political resolution by creating a Palestinian state.

On the occasion of my visit to New York, I met with the Secretary General of the United Nations. We had a very extensive discussion, which included, among other things, the Cyprus issue and the forthcoming expanded meeting, which we will have next time. We discussed issues related to the organization’s organizational and structural organization, especially in view of the Greek Security Council Presidency in May, with a series of events that will be organized by the Greek Presidency. And of course the great developments in the world, Ukraine and the Middle East, but also in all aspects of the world, where there are armed conflicts and major crises for which the United Nations is able to provide meaningful services.

Greece is at the heart of international multimedia, international diplomacy with a strong footprint and above all with principles.
