The dynamics of mobilization turns into an absolute political priority the anxieties expressed on the streets by citizens
By Gifts Antoniou
Characteristics in the political time are acquired by the rallies of last Friday for the two -year anniversary of the Tempe railway accident.
Massive demonstrations impose their own reality, which overturns political plans and which regularity at the level of political initiatives of both the government and the opposition.
For the government it became clear from the first rallies of January and then that the attempt to change the agenda of the news fell into a vacuum and that instead of receding, the wave of citizens united behind the request for substantial answers to the causes of the accident is constantly strengthened. Shadow of concealment and, finally, for a better state, which will provide normal conditions, such as safety in citizens’ movement.
The Tuesday in a few days of intervention by Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Tempi yesterday, after being set up on the cabinet last week and posting on social media on the occasion of the two -year anniversary of the accident on Friday, shows that the prime minister is going to be a prime minister. of the citizens and that he personally, as he pointed out yesterday, undertakes to make the necessary moves to answer.
Of course, the government’s attempt to form a new narrative forward with the aim of correcting the bad texts, to some extent stumbles upon the fact that these glaring weaknesses and pathogens have not been corrected in the last six years in power.
It is no coincidence that the prime minister reported yesterday to a personal battle for improving the state, which he said, for the past 21 years, far longer than the government’s life. And listed specific reforms that the government has promoted:
“For the state as a whole. Greece cannot operate with half -meters and improvisations. With a system that only reacts after evil, waiting for crises to mobilize. The state has a duty to catch up, not to run behind the developments. A collective responsibility, but first of all my own. This is a showdown I have given my political journey for 21 years. I know I won’t win every battle. But I am determined to win the war. We have proven that we can. From 112 to gov.gr, from the consolidation of EFKA to the new Land Registry, from the fight against tax evasion to the preventive medical examinations, we have surpassed resistance by showing citizens that a modern state that will take care of them is possible. The new symbol of this battle must be the Greek railways. With the right infrastructure, new trains, strict safety rules that will be adhered to. It will take some time until the government plan that has already begun to complete. Certainly, however, his first stop will be a well-secured Athens-Thessaloniki line by 2027. And this is a personal commitment, “he said.
The government, realizing that the issue of Tempi is not easily left out of the spotlight, adopts a differentiated narrative and essentially says that it is the one that can better respond to citizens’ demand for safe rail transport.
Yesterday’s reports of the prime minister are shaping the ground for the next moves. In essence, they show how the government will move in the battle that is starting tomorrow in Parliament and is expected to last all week centered on Tempi. It is also discounting on the basis of what Mr Mitsotakis said, that the debate on the government reshuffle, which is expected near the middle of the month, is again open.
