The messages behind yesterday’s speech by Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Parliament and the attempt to reshape the agenda
By Gifts Antoniou
With three initiatives announced yesterday by the Prime Minister, the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakisthe government will seek to escape forward and recovering the initiative, which it has long been looking for under the suffocating pressure for the Tempi case.
In the coming days, the plan to support and maintain the rail network is expected to specialize, for which the government ends up resolving the transnational agreement with a foreign organization, which, as the prime minister said, will support OSE. As government sources say, the goal of this decision is overcome the distrust that shows that it has been spreading in public opinion on rail safety safety and to be pursued by the conscription of know -how An organization with extensive experience in this field to restore citizens’ confidence. In addition, Mr. Mitsotakis announced the renewal of the rolling stock, namely the acquisition of new, modern trains by 2027.
These two interventions are directly linked to Tempi and constitute the government’s “response” to pressure from society for safe rail transport. At the same time, however, Mr Mitsotakis made it clear yesterday that he would seek other initiatives to convey the central political debate to other fields, to cease to be the political agenda. Thus, he heralded the government’s intention to proceed with a significant reform, to submit, in the context of the constitutional review, Proposal for constitutional registration of public employees evaluation. In addition to the change of agenda, with this move, the government aims to put pressure on the opposition by demanding to clarify whether it will support a significant reform or in favor of maintaining the current regime. It remains to be seen, however, how this initiative will be formed and how the government proposal will be formulated.
In the debate in Parliament, Mr. Mitsotakis was particularly stood in conspiracy theories developed around Tempi, while describing a “common anti -government front”, in which he placed all opposition parties. In fact, he went a step further, leaving the media to operate and called on their owners to read a page of the EPASAM finding in which, he said, the media reported that the media ‘Reprinted various conspiracy theories’. He also spoke of an organized Bots attack by foreign countries, putting another dimension on the front opposite the government.
The Prime Minister is steadily referring to the international environment and the challenges that are shaped, contrasting to ‘Global vibration’ How crucial it is to maintain stability. Which, obviously, and links to the stability of the government. So yesterday he discounted that the majority ‘He doesn’t want the country in adventures’ and sought to put an end to any scenarios circulating, saying that Elections will take place in 2027.
All of these issues are expected to be raised again during a debate on the debate against the government that began to be discussed yesterday in Parliament and will be completed tomorrow at midnight by nominal vote. Mr. Mitsotakis, referring to the parties who agreed to the distrust proposal – PASOK, SYRIZA, New Left and Freedom Cruise – spoke of ‘A motley alliance of the willing’.
In Brussels
The Prime Minister will today go to Brussels for Extraordinary Summit of the European Council where the issue of the common European defense and the Ukrainian will be discussed. Mr Mitsotakis is expected to insist on the need to activate a escape clause for defense spending on national budgets. In relation to Ukraine, it is going to point out that Europe needs to speak in a single voice and that the informal meeting of recent weeks do not help in this direction.
