April will be the overall presentation of interventions for the public transport of Attica, the prime minister announced, Kyriakos Mitsotakis During his visit today to Ministry of Infrastructure and Transportwhere he had a meeting with the leadership, Minister Christos Dimas, Deputy Minister Konstantinos Kyranakis and Deputy Minister Nikos Tahiao.

Also present was the Deputy Prime Minister, Kostis Hatzidakis.

The prime minister announced the addition of new buses and driver hiring, upgrading the lines of the line 1 and interventions on lines 2 and 3, noting that by 2027 there will be a completely different picture in the capital’s means of transport.

The prime minister acknowledged the “urgent need to upgrade our Athens – Thessaloniki rail network with the most up -to -date safety systems and traffic accidents”.

“We have to move faster, this is what citizens demand us,” the prime minister said, reiterating that the government must continue its conflict with the timeless pathogens of the deep state.

Regarding the new Road Traffic Code, he said that he had gone through a long consultation and that he would come to Parliament soon. He added that he would not solve the issue of road safety on his own and added that a comprehensive reassessment of how we are moving.

He even said that a new confidence between the state and society is needed, so that we do not have any other loss on the asphalt.

In addition, Mr. Mitsotakis also updated the timetables for the completion of important infrastructure projects by 2027.

Specifically, Mr. Mitsotakis said that a significant portion of BOAK should have been delivered by the end of 2027, while the Patras -Pyrgos road axis should be completed within 2025, as well as the expansion work of the Thessaloniki Metro.

Subsequently, in 2026 the E65 should have been delivered and by 2027 the Flyover in Thessaloniki.

Coming, the prime minister met four people in wheelchairs, who asked him to meet the issues of disabled people and pledged to arrange a meeting in the coming days.

Mitsotakis statements

“First of all, I wish good strength to the new leadership of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, the Minister and the Deputy, and good continuity to the rest of the ministry.

We had the opportunity to have a very thorough discussion of an overview of the progress of the major works of jurisdiction of the ministry. I would like to mention them, because they are national priority projects, which our goal is to have completed until 2027.

The Patras-Pyrgos Motorway, with the delivery horizon of the largest section within the summer of this year and the completion of the project before the end of 2025.

The completion of the E65 in its northern part, from Kalambaka to connection to Egnatia Road, with completion horizon in 2026, until mid -2026, as it is a project funded by the recovery fund.

The Flyover of Thessaloniki, which I had the opportunity to visit recently, with a horizon of completion of the project early 2027.

The Thessaloniki Metro, the five subway expansion stations to the east, to Kalamaria, with the completion of the end of this year.

And of course, the north road axis, a difficult task that we appreciate to sign the relevant contract in April, as well as there are funding from the recovery fund, which must have been absorbed by the summer of 2026.

By making a “bridge” with the issues related to the railways, I point out the need to run the faster pace the recovery projects from the “Daniel” damage. This also applies to rail projects, it also concerns road projects. I believe that we will be able to begin the restoration of these projects very soon.

And of course, to dwell on what the Deputy said, the urgent need to be able to upgrade our rail network, mainly on the Athens-Thessaloniki trunk line, with the most modern security systems, with new rolling stock. It is a goal we have set by 2027.

We will be required to move here by procedures, which may be foreign to the usual procedures of the Greek State, with the greatest possible flexibility, reaching the boundaries of the European legislative framework.

But this is what the citizens have to do and we have to do that. And the Deputy Minister has also assumed this responsibility.

Two more transport issues, which I find extremely critical. In early April, there will be a comprehensive presentation for the significant investments and interventions we make in Attica’s public transport, in terms of new buses, for their route, the addition of new drivers so that we can increase the frequency of routes, which I know very well, Metro trains in lines 2 and 3.

All of this constitutes a comprehensive plan for important public transport interventions that I believe will already show, and show, results for users. But certainly by 2027 our goal is to present a completely different picture of the public transport media, both in buses and the subway.

Finally, the new CMC, the Road Traffic Code, has gone through a long consultation, will come to the House very soon.

Obviously we are very concerned about road safety issues. The new KOK is an important intervention in this direction, but on its own will not solve the issue of road safety in our country. And I believe that in this issue, as we do, I would say almost daily, witnesses to accidents that cost our fellow citizens, I think I need a total, I would say, reassessing the way we move on the road.

The responsibilities of the state and the responsibilities of the drivers, we have to make a new one, I would say, a contract of confidence between the state and Greek society, so that we do not witness daily tragic losses on the asphalt.

In closing, let’s start from where I started my intervention. Good power to ministers are building on an important work done by the previous leadership of the Ministry of Infrastructure. Obviously they do not start from scratch, there has been a significant effort, as all these projects and initiatives are initiatives that require a very long -term planning.

Our goal, however, can only be one: faster and more effective in achieving the goals we have already set. “

Minister of Infrastructure and Transport Christos Dimas said: “We welcome Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis to the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, as well as the Deputy Prime Minister, Kostis Hatzidakis.

We had a very constructive discussion. The prime minister’s mandate is clear: all major infrastructure projects in the country must be proceeded quickly, projects that will substantially upgrade quality of life and safety in travel.

Indicatively, I mention that we have discussed the course of many important projects and their evolution, in particular about Patras-Pyrgos, Thessaloniki Metro, expansion to Kalamaria, E65, BOAK, Metro Line in Athens, for Airport in Casteli, Our islands, in Naxos, Paros and Chios, and many other projects.

I repeat, our will is to get to work, in collaboration with all the stakeholders and the contractors, to ensure that these projects run immediately, so that we can all enjoy, use them and improve the quality of life in the country.

I stop here. Again, Mr Prime Minister, welcome. Thank you very much and I am sure that the next time we will be able to proceed a lot of all these important projects we discussed. “

THE Deputy Minister for Transfers Konstantinos Kyranakis He noted: “We also welcome, together with the Secretary General of Transport, Ms Paliartas, the Prime Minister and the Deputy Prime Minister at the Ministry.

Obviously, we discussed the urgent issues of the railway, which concern Greek society and is a top priority for us. Legislative provisions will come to Parliament immediately and the overall plan will be announced.

In the near future, within the next two months, rehabilitation projects are launched on the part that has been destroyed by “Daniel”, but they have a priority for us and the means of transport to Athens and Thessaloniki and of course in the region.

So in April we are committed to presenting the overall plan for ISAP, subway and buses here in Attica, and then announce the next steps.

Thank you very much”.
